Punctuations :

Period (.)

Used to end a sentence or indicate an abbreviation. Example: I am going to the store. (End of a sentence) Example: Dr. Johnson will see you now. (Abbreviation)


Comma (,)

This is used to separate items in a list, clauses, or phrases. Example: She bought apples, oranges, and bananas. Example:He went to the school , but he forgot his books.


Question Mark (?) -

Used at the end of a direct question. Example: What time is it?


Exclamation Mark (!) -

Quotation Marks ("") -

Used to indicate direct speech or to enclose a quote. Example: She said, "I love that movie." Example: He wrote, "Success is not final."


Colon (:) -

Used to introduce a list, explanation, or a quote. Example: Here are the ingredients for the recipe: flour, sugar, eggs. Example: Shakespeare once wrote: "All the world's a stage."

Semicolon (;) -

Used to connect closely related independent clauses or items in a list when commas are already present. Example: I have a meeting at 9 a.m.; I need to prepare for it. Example: The team is composed of Hari, the leader; Sita , the manager; and Anuj, the assistant. .


Dash (-)

Used to indicate a sudden change in thought or to emphasize a point. Example: The car screeched to a halt – it narrowly avoided the pedestrian. Example: She finally got her dream job – the one she had worked so hard for.


Ellipsis (...) -


Used to indicate omitted words or trailing off in thought. Example: "I think... umm... we should go now." .
